    Caroline Edgeton-Martin
Resident in Counseling (VA), under supervision

Caroline understands that discussing challenging thoughts and feelings can be difficult, often leading to feelings of loneliness, shame, and disconnection. She believes that no one should have to navigate these emotions alone and is dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment. Her goal is to create a brave space where clients can feel safe and vulnerable without fear of judgment.

Caroline employs a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to counseling, working with adults, couples, and families. As a Person-Centered therapist, she collaborates closely with clients to create personalized treatment plans that align with their unique needs and goals to help empower individuals to live more authentically. She specializes in supporting individuals who identify as or are questioning their identity within the LGBTQIA+ community, relationship/couples counseling, and trauma healing.
Her therapeutic toolbox encompasses various modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Caroline often incorporates mindfulness and somatically based interventions to facilitate deeper connections between the mind and body.
Caroline completed her BA in English and Journalism from Wake Forest University and earned her M.S.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. Her studies were informed by a multicultural perspective, emphasizing the importance of serving LGBTQIA+ individuals, providing mental health care to underserved communities, and relationship/intimacy counseling. Currently, she is a resident in counseling, working towards her LPC licensure in Virginia.
